Lauryn Pepe, a native New Yorker, graduated from Fashion Institute of Technology with a B.F.A in textile surface design which was put to good use when she worked in both domestic and apparel design, but once Lauryn moved to San Francisco her career focus shifted in the form of painting on surfaces that cannot easily be moved, walls anyone?
After bidding San Francisco goodbye Ms.Pepe tried her luck in Florence, Italy where her paintings were exhibited at the contemporary galleria and she painted a mural inside the corner cafe at via Chiesa and via de Leone.
Once Lauryn moved back to NYC she decided that just painting murals wasn’t enough and added her version of furniture restoration to her resume by taking old dressers or desks and making each one unique by painting on them. Last summer she volunteered for the non profit “East River Development Alliance” and solely painted a mural on 12st and 40th ave in L.I.C.
To put another spotlight on this talented woman, Ms. Pepe is one of three artists asked to show her work in Arts and Nash, a new art gallery opening in Park Slope this June.
Lauryn is putting her mark on the world one mural at a time, making her work visible and enjoyable for generations to come.
