“What was your inspiration for this collection?” A required question that the designers are asked each season. After the Fall’10 Fashion Week, I think they should be asked the same question about the footwear they put onto the models. The shoes, have been getting just as much attention as the clothes being showed on the runways. For some of the designers, the reaction from viewers would be the tilting of the head and a raised eyebrow.
This past week the Parisian designers outdid themselves. I had to wonder what they were thinking and mumbled that notorious question under my breathe. Unfortunately each of the following designers were not available to answer me and my imagination started to run wild!
Chanel–Big Foot. Givenchy–Little Red Riding Hood.
Marni– The Woman that Lived In Her Shoe John Galliano–Ax Men
Jean Paul Gaultier–Arabian Nights. Yves Saint Laurent–Last Of The Mohicans.
Who would put Band-Aids on Kate Moss if she was hurt? Cédric Rivrain is his name, combining beauty and anatomical studies is game. The son of a doctor, this illustrator uses bandages as ornaments, jewelry or as a garments in his sketches.
Rivrain has sketched for John Galliano, Martine Sitbon, work for magazines like Dazed, Tokion, and Numéo. Even though his first solo exhibit in Paris has just finished, I’m quite sure this will not be the last one. Maybe he’ll use gauze next time.
Its been almost a month now, since Paris Fashion Week came to an end. Unfortunately, I haven’t had the time to devote to my Fashion Capital with work and staring the website. Since its taken a bit longer for me to post my favorites, I should give you’ll a bit more. More clothes, more trends, more shoes and bags and definitely my overall favorite collection from Spring ’09. Here is Part I. Apprécier!
