Visionaire No. 58: Spirit is a tribute to Alexander McQueen’s genius and legacy. Nick Knight, Lady Gaga, Steven Klein, Mario Sorrenti, Steven Meisel, Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin, David Sims, Mario Testino, Sean Ellis and Sebastian Faena, share images inspired by Alexander’s creativity that had no boundaries! To keep McQueen alive not just on the pages, the images are printed on paper embedded with wildflower seeds. When planted, watered, and given sun, the pages blossom.
Spirit is limited to an edition of 1,500 numbered copies with each one featuring metalized brocade from McQueen’s Spring/Summer 2010 show.

With all the designer shoes for Fall being so unique and interesting, they’re more than just heels to walk in, lead roles are what they are, taking the attention away from the clothes. So it was only right to cast them in of my favorite films.
Move over Fame, The Wizard of Oz is back with the four characters we love, and they each have their own signature looks. There is a little twist this time around though, after seeking help from the wizard, each cast member gets a little more daring, a wilder side and new looks will be needed.
Who would put Band-Aids on Kate Moss if she was hurt? Cédric Rivrain is his name, combining beauty and anatomical studies is game. The son of a doctor, this illustrator uses bandages as ornaments, jewelry or as a garments in his sketches.
Rivrain has sketched for John Galliano, Martine Sitbon, work for magazines like Dazed, Tokion, and Numéo. Even though his first solo exhibit in Paris has just finished, I’m quite sure this will not be the last one. Maybe he’ll use gauze next time.
It seems as though each designer wanted to make more of a statement using the shoes in their collection than the clothes this coming spring.
Giambattista Valli gave us a new form of platform and sexy pumps rolled up into one, that had to be over 5 inches high. ”Pile it on,” was what the heels for Louis Vuitton would say, if they can speak. Dolce & Gabbana created training heels for us this Spring and Prada and Marni wanted us to wear socks or tights with their creations. With the economy being the way it is right now, designers couldn’t hold back, they had to give us more than the clothes to chose from.
We get more wear out of our shoes, than clothes anyway, so when you buy one of the unique pair of shoes from your favorite designer this spring, know this, you’ll be walking in a pair of art pieces.
Its been almost a month now, since Paris Fashion Week came to an end. Unfortunately, I haven’t had the time to devote to my Fashion Capital with work and staring the website. Since its taken a bit longer for me to post my favorites, I should give you’ll a bit more. More clothes, more trends, more shoes and bags and definitely my overall favorite collection from Spring ’09. Here is Part I. Apprécier!
