Balenciaga–Let’s Play Tetris.
“What was your inspiration for this collection?” A required question that the designers are asked each season. After the Fall’10 Fashion Week, I think they should be asked the same question about the footwear they put onto the models. The shoes, have been getting just as much attention as the clothes being showed on the runways. For some of the designers, the reaction from viewers would be the tilting of the head and a raised eyebrow.
This past week the Parisian designers outdid themselves. I had to wonder what they were thinking and mumbled that notorious question under my breathe. Unfortunately each of the following designers were not available to answer me and my imagination started to run wild!
Chanel–Big Foot. Givenchy–Little Red Riding Hood.
Marni– The Woman that Lived In Her Shoe John Galliano–Ax Men
Jean Paul Gaultier–Arabian Nights. Yves Saint Laurent–Last Of The Mohicans.

With all the designer shoes for Fall being so unique and interesting, they’re more than just heels to walk in, lead roles are what they are, taking the attention away from the clothes. So it was only right to cast them in of my favorite films.
Move over Fame, The Wizard of Oz is back with the four characters we love, and they each have their own signature looks. There is a little twist this time around though, after seeking help from the wizard, each cast member gets a little more daring, a wilder side and new looks will be needed.
Show It Loud, Show It Proud. You want to be noticed, the center of attention, right? You can do it without saying a word, by wearing some of Fall’s accessories that are flashy in all the right ways.
Rock your clothes with big necklaces. Your handbags will need there own seats in restaurants because of the embelishments on them and your shoes…ohhh your shoes. No words needed, just stares.
Don’t Hate, Congratulate.
Fall ’09 collections are giving us designers that wants to show that the recession shouldn’t hold us back from making a statement with our accessories. From every fashion genre there are pieces that got a little Extra LOVE put into creating them than some others. Here are some of my favorites, and tell me if you beg to disagree.
It seems as though each designer wanted to make more of a statement using the shoes in their collection than the clothes this coming spring.
Giambattista Valli gave us a new form of platform and sexy pumps rolled up into one, that had to be over 5 inches high. ”Pile it on,” was what the heels for Louis Vuitton would say, if they can speak. Dolce & Gabbana created training heels for us this Spring and Prada and Marni wanted us to wear socks or tights with their creations. With the economy being the way it is right now, designers couldn’t hold back, they had to give us more than the clothes to chose from.
We get more wear out of our shoes, than clothes anyway, so when you buy one of the unique pair of shoes from your favorite designer this spring, know this, you’ll be walking in a pair of art pieces.
I had to post the video this weekend. Versace is know for the sexy silhouettes given to use each season. For Spring ’09 their cherry on the cake , were hearts throughout the collection.
Keep in mind we are talking about Galliano, the king of fantasy and exaggeration. So let’s put some ruffles and bouncing hemlines with cross-laced corseted backs and cartridge-paper scrolls standing out on hips. Ohh that’s not all. Delftware embroideries peeking from the underskirts with soft blues and elaborate lace and tulip prints, what do you get?
Christian Dior customers, drooling, dreaming, spending, wearing.
